I started Tales from the Goblin’s Teacup back in September 2024 as a bit of an experiment. The idea was simple… write a story, but leave space for readers to help decide how it unfolds. That experiment is now Dunmoor’s Definitely Doomed.
Not everything is up for grabs. There are fixed points in the story… things that are going to happen no matter what. But how we get there… that’s where this project comes alive.
Each chapter ends with a choice. Not filler options or coin flips, but actual forks in the road that change the path forward. You vote, and I write what happens next based on that outcome.
At this point, there are roughly 19,000 words across 10 chapters. That’s the ground floor.
How It Works
The story runs on a two-week cycle. New chapters go out to paid Patreon members on Mondays, along with early voting, and those votes count double. Chapters go public on Fridays. You can read them here as they release, but the story is always a few chapters ahead on Patreon, where the decisions are being made in real time.
Voting stays open until the following Monday morning. Once it closes, I take the winning path and spend the next week writing the next installment.
Then we do it again.
Monthly Illustration
Once a month, paid members vote on a moment from the recent chapters. I take the winning scene and turn it into an illustration… something pulled directly from the version of the story you helped shape.
If you’ve been here since the beginning, this is the next step. If you’re new, start at Chapter 1 and jump in. Either way… you’re not just reading this story. You’re helping decide how it gets where it’s going.
